Efimov effect in non-integer dimensions induced by an external field

چکیده

The Efimov effect can be induced by means of an external deformed one-body field that effectively reduces the allowed spatial dimensions to less than three. To understand this new mechanism, conceptually and practically, we employ a formulation using non-integer dimension, which is equivalent strength oscillator field. most clearly appears when crucial two-body systems are unbound in three, but bound two, dimensions. We discuss energy variation, conditions for occurrence, number states, as functions dimension. use practical examples from cold atom physics 133Cs-133Cs-133Cs, 87Rb-87Rb-87Rb, 133Cs-133Cs-6Li, 87Rb-87Rb-39K. Laboratory tests performed with two independent parameters, i.e. Feshbach tuning. scaling (dis)appearance these states occur precisely already found three

Probing Non-Integer Dimensions

Suppose that the velocity field is inversely proportional to the radial distance, v = Q 2πr . Such a divergenceless field is natural in two dimensions and is generated by a point sink (or source) of strength Q in an incompressible fluid. This flow field has the remarkable property that the convection term can be absorbed into the diffusion operator by an appropriate shift of the spatial dimensi...

Chiral symmetry breaking by a non - Abelian external field in ( 2 + 1 ) - dimensions

We investigate the effect of a constant external non-Abelian field on chiral symmetry breaking in a (2+1)-dimensional Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model and in 3D QCD by solving the gap equation and the Bethe-Salpeter equation, and also by RG analysis. In the (2+1)-dimensional NJL model chiral symmetry breaking occurs for any weak coupling constant but in 3D QCD catalysis of chiral symmetry breaking does...

Universal Conductance Fluctuations in Non-integer Dimensions

We propose an Ansatz for universal conductance fluctuations in continuous dimensions from 0 up to 4. The Ansatz agrees with known formulas for integer dimensions 1, 2 and 3, both for hard wall and periodic boundary conditions. The method is based solely on the knowledge of energy spectrum and standard assumptions. We also study numerically the conductance fluctuations in 4D Anderson model, depe...

The bosonic Casimir effect in an external magnetic field

We compute the influence of an applied magnetic field on the Casimir energy of a massive scalar field confined between two parallel infinite plates using Schwinger's method from source theory. The boundary conditions are those of a vanishing field through the plates. The obtained results show that a strong magnetic field inhibits the bosonic Casimir effect and that a weak magnetic field increas...

Generalized Efimov Effect in One Dimension.

We study a one-dimensional quantum problem of two particles interacting with a third one via a scale-invariant subcritically attractive inverse square potential, which can be realized, for example, in a mixture of dipoles and charges confined to one dimension. We find that above a critical mass ratio, this version of the Calogero problem exhibits the generalized Efimov effect, the emergence of ...
